Avignon
Prométhée
From Friday 12 to Saturday 13 December 2025 from 8 pm.
Event in Avignon :
Martin Harriague continues his exploration of transgressive figures. After his creation around Trump, he summons Prometheus - thief of fire and bearer of chaos - the incarnation of a modern man who defies laws and dreams of being a god.Prometheus' creatures - beings of clay animated by fire - take on a contemporary significance here. Everywhere, matter bursts into flames under the hands of beings who believe themselves to be gods. The work becomes a mirror of our times, a visceral dance in which bodies resonate with instruments. The legacy of a shared love of gesture and sound shines through powerfully. It also marks the long-awaited return of the Orchestre national Avignon-Provence to the Ballet. A rare, vibrant encounter, enriched by the participation of composer Fabien Cali, the Orchestra's artist-in-residence, who will bring a modern, contemporary touch to Beethoven's work.
And while it all begins with fire, the work ends with a spark of hope: the promise, perhaps, of a new beginning.
