Vaison-la-Romaine
Roman culture inspires conservator-restorers" exhibition
From 04/08 to 04/09/2025 daily.
Event in Vaison-la-Romaine :
Outdoor exhibition on the railings alongside the Puymin archaeological site, along the Bernard Noël pedestrian street. Roman culture inspires curator-restorers Horie Takeshi and Ishihara Michitomo.
For thirty years in Japan, rigorous scientific curator-restorers of cultural property have been presenting the multi-millennia-old objects they study in imaginary forms. Their re-creations of prehistoric objects have conquered archaeological museums and numerous art centers in Japan.
Two of these conservator-restorers were seduced by the proposal to draw inspiration from objects from the Gallo-Roman culture on display at the Théo Desplans archaeological museum in Vaison-la-Romaine.
Messrs HORIE Takeshi and ISHIHARA Michitomo took up the challenge and each created six compositions. The town of Vaison-la-Romaine will be exhibiting their compositions in the form of photographs.
These playful creations "present cultural heritage as a resource for human development and the promotion of intercultural dialogue".
Ecological messages
They raise awareness of the degradation of heritage assets due to atmospheric pollution. They invite us to defend the values of memory, preservation and protection attached to the living medium that is cultural heritage.
Cultural diversity
This presentation in France meets the expectations of a growing number of people wishing to learn about Japanese cultures through a diversity of forms of expression, setting them apart from well-known fields such as pop, manga or animated films.
Values of living together
Unique works of art, available to all, invite citizens to reflect on one of the challenges facing our societies: the circulation of ideas. The creations of curatorial artists, at the crossroads of the fields of heritage, archaeology and ecology, open up paths that lead to sharing and rallying around the values of living together.
